제대로 된 혁명 A Sane Revolution

If you make a revolution, make it for fun,
혁명을 하려면 재미로 하라,
don’t make it in ghastly seriousness,
소름끼치도록 심각하게는 하지 마라,
don’t do it in deadly earnest,
너무 진지하게도 하지 마라,
do it for fun.
그저 재미로 하라.
Don’t do it because you hate people,
사람들을 미워하기 때문에는 혁명에 가담하지 마라,
do it just to spit in their eye.
그저 원수들의 눈에 침이라도 한번 뱉기 위해서 하라.
Don’t do it for the money,
돈을 쫓는 혁명은 하지 말고,
do it and be damned to the money.
돈을 깡그리 비웃는 혁명을 하라.
Don’t do it for equality,
획일을 추구하는 혁명은 하지 마라,
do it because we’ve got too much equality
오히려 너무 획일적이었으므로 혁명을 하라.
and it would be fun to upset the apple-cart
사과 실린 수레를 뒤집고
and see which way the apples would go a-rolling.
사과가 어느 방향으로 굴러가는가를 보는 것이란 얼마나 즐거운가.
Don’t do it for the working classes.
노동자 계급을 위한 혁명도 하지 마라.
Do it so that we can all of us be little aristocracies on our own
우리 모두가 자력으로 괜찮은 귀족이 되는 그런 혁명을 하라
and kick our heels like jolly escaped asses.
즐겁게 도망치는 당나귀들처럼 뒷발질이나 한번 하라.
Don’t do it, anyhow, for international Labour.
어쨌든 세계 노동자를 위한 혁명은 하지 마라.
Labour is the one thing a man has had too much of.
노동은 이제껏 우리가 너무 많이 해온 것이 아닌가.
Let’s abolish labour, let’s have done with labouring!
우리 노동을 폐지하자, 우리 일하는 것에 종지부를 찍자!
Work can be fun, and men can enjoy it; then it’s not labour.
일은 재미일 수 있다, 사람들은 일을 즐길 수 있다; 그러면 일은 노동이 아니다.
Let’s have it so! Let’s make a revolution for fun!
우리 노동을 그렇게 하자! 우리 재미를 위한 혁명을 하자!
